The Karachi Commissioner’s Office has released a report on its ongoing campaign against profiteering, revealing strict action taken against 186 vendors on the 17th day of Ramadan.
According to the report, on the 17th of Ramadan alone, 186 profiteers were fined, resulting in penalties totaling Rs 1.387 million during the crackdown.
Price inspections were carried out at 1,299 shops, and special magistrates imposed fines amounting to Rs 456,000.
Since the beginning of Ramadan, authorities have fined a total of 3,042 profiteers, collecting a total of Rs 35.5 million in penalties, while 141 profiteers have been arrested.
Commissioner Naqvi has directed deputy commissioners to continue providing relief to citizens.

According to the report, on the 16th of Ramadan alone, 158 profiteers were fined, resulting in penalties totaling Rs 1.35 million, while four individuals were arrested.
Price inspections were carried out at 1,276 shops, and special magistrates imposed fines amounting to Rs 244,000.
Since the beginning of Ramadan, authorities have fined a total of 2,856 profiteers, collecting a total of Rs 34.1 million in penalties, while 141 profiteers have been arrested. Over 17,000 shops have undergone price inspections to curb illegal price hikes.
The fines imposed on the 16th of Ramadan were distributed across Karachi’s seven districts, with District South receiving the highest penalty of Rs 455,000, followed by District East with Rs 159,000, District Malir with Rs 157,000, District Central with Rs 129,000, District Korangi with Rs 79,000, District Keamari with Rs 27,000, and District West with Rs 34,000.
