Karachi continues to lead the country in tax payments, with the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) reporting a collection of Rs 2,522 billion from the city in the fiscal year 2023-24.
This makes Karachi the highest contributor to the national tax pool, as per FBR’s geographic tax collection report.
The report reveals that the Large Tax Office (LTO) Karachi collected over Rs 1,360 billion in income tax and Rs 1,000 billion in sales tax during the period.
Additionally, the LTO Karachi’s federal excise duty collection stood at Rs 136.3 million.
Lahore and Islamabad follow Karachi on the list, with Lahore’s LTO collecting more than Rs 1,402 billion, and Islamabad’s LTO collecting Rs 1,164 billion in taxes.
