Floods, landslides in Indonesia claim at least 20 lives

Continuous torrential rains in Indonesia have triggered devastating floods and landslides, leaving 20 dead and many missing.

Four districts in North Sumatra are worst affected, with floodwaters washing away bridges and submerging roads.

Local authorities report that landslides have buried several residents under debris. Heavy rainfall, which began on Saturday, has caused extensive damage to infrastructure and disrupted daily life.

Jakarta and nearby areas have also been inundated, with floodwaters entering homes and turning roads into rivers. Thousands of people have been displaced, seeking shelter in safer locations.

Rescue teams are using boats to evacuate stranded residents, while damaged vehicles and disrupted transportation networks add to the chaos.

The government has mobilized resources to address the crisis, but recovery efforts remain challenging as rain continues to lash the region.
