Abu Dhabi police to impose Dh1,000 fine for stopping vehicles in undesignated places for prayer

Abu Dhabi Police has announced that motorists who stop their vehicles in undesignated places on highways for prayer will face a fine of Dh1,000. This measure is being implemented to ensure the safety of both the motorists themselves and other road users. The General Directorate of Abu Dhabi Police has launched an awareness campaign to highlight the risks associated with improper bus parking on internal and external roads in the emirate, especially among bus drivers who transport workers.

Under the amended regulations of Traffic Law No. (178), the violation of stopping vehicles on the side of the road in undesignated places will result in a fine of Dh1,000. Additionally, fines of Dh500 will be imposed for stopping vehicles at intersections or turns, Dh400 for parking in a manner that endangers pedestrians, and Dh500 for failing to take necessary safety measures in case of vehicle breakdown.

Lieutenant Colonel Salah Abdullah Al Humairi, Deputy Director of Abu Dhabi Traffic Department at Traffic and Patrols Department, urged motorists to use restrooms and mosques at petrol stations, residential areas, and labour camps instead of stopping their vehicles on the side of the road for prayer or other purposes. The campaign aims to raise awareness among bus drivers about the dangers of stopping buses in undesignated places, which not only puts them at risk but also poses a threat to other motorists.
