21-year-old killed during robbery, yearly death toll reaches 82 in Karachi

In yet another tragic incident, a 21-year-old youth lost his life while resisting a robbery attempt, adding to the rising death toll of citizens killed by bandits in the city of Quaid. As of now, the number of people killed in robbery-related incidents in the city has reached 82, causing immense concern among the residents.

The incident occurred near Tostar Ground, Sherpa Colony Sector, in the Landhi area falling under Quaidabad police station jurisdiction. The young man, identified as Abbas, was seriously injured after being shot by the robbers and was immediately rushed to Jinnah Hospital. However, he succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital.

Abbas, a machine operator in a private garment factory, was sitting outside his house on the street and using his mobile phone when two armed assailants on a motorcycle approached him. The robbers attempted to snatch his mobile phone, but Abbas bravely resisted. In the ensuing struggle, one of the bandits opened fire at the young man, and both criminals fled the scene.

The gunshot wound inflicted on Abbas proved to be fatal, leading to his untimely death on the way to the hospital. The tragic loss has left his family devastated, as he was unmarried and the second among four brothers.

The incident sheds light on the escalating crime situation in Quaid city, where citizens are facing increasing threats to their safety. So far this year, 82 individuals have lost their lives while resisting robbery attempts, and more than 500 people have been injured in similar incidents involving firing.

The rise in the number of such incidents has raised concerns among the local authorities and residents. Steps need to be taken urgently to curb this alarming trend and ensure the safety and security of the city’s residents. Community awareness, improved law enforcement, and stricter measures against criminals will be vital in tackling the rising crime rate in Quaid city.
