The OceanGate’s Titan submersible tragedy, which claimed the lives of five individuals during a voyage to the Titanic wreck site, is set to be depicted in a feature film titled ‘Salvaged.’ MindRiot Entertainment, known for locking a docuseries on the same incident, is taking charge of this fiction project.

Justin MacGregor and Jonathan Keasey from MindRiot Entertainment will co-write the film, while E. Brian Dobbins, recognized for his work on ‘Black-ish’ and ‘The Blackening,’ will serve as the co-producer. The movie is expected to cover the events before, during, and after the five-day tragedy.

Keasey commented on the project, stating, “The Titan Tragedy is yet another example of a misinformed and quick-to-pounce system, in this case, our nonstop, 24-7 media cycle that convicts and ruins the lives of so many people without any due process.”

He emphasized that the film would honor those involved in the submersible tragedy and address broader concerns about the nature of media today. Keasey stressed the importance of truth and the need to present a nuanced perspective rather than succumbing to sensationalism.

While earlier rumors suggested James Cameron’s involvement in directing the film, the acclaimed filmmaker clarified on social media that he does not plan to explore the recent disaster related to the Titanic shipwreck.

The OceanGate’s Titan submersible tragedy occurred earlier this year, resulting in the unfortunate loss of lives, including OceanGate Expeditions founder Stockton Rush, British billionaire Hamish Harding, renowned French diver Paul-Henri Nargeolet, and Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood with his son Suleman. The film ‘Salvaged’ aims to shed light on the incident and address concerns related to media representation.
