Karachi police and Rangers arrest most wanted TTP terrorist

In a joint targeted intelligence-based operation (IBO), Karachi police and Rangers successfully apprehended a most-wanted terrorist affiliated with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). The arrested individual, identified as Abdul Ghaffar alias Amjad, was captured in Ittehad Town, and explosives were recovered from his possession.

According to the Rangers spokesperson, Abdul Ghaffar, also known as Amjad, is a close associate of TTP’s banned militant organization’s commander, Muhammad Ali alias Mufti. The arrested individual was reportedly involved in planning a suicide attack at the shrine of Abdullah Shah Ghazi in October 2011.

The security forces disclosed that the planned attack involved a group of five suicide bombers, including two individuals from Chechnya, one from Azerbaijan, and two locals from Karachi. The police intercepted the group near the shrine, leading to an encounter in which two police officers lost their lives. Abdul Ghaffar managed to escape the scene and had been in hiding in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

Abdul Ghaffar recently returned to Karachi with the alleged intention of re-establishing a network for the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. The security forces are actively conducting further raids to apprehend other associates and collaborators involved in illicit activities linked to the banned militant organization.
