Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has reaffirmed his government’s commitment to modernizing the education system to meet international standards.

Speaking at a ceremony in Karachi, he called the launch of the teaching license a landmark step toward broader reforms. He said Sindh’s educational future must be based on quality, knowledge, and integrity.

Shah stressed that empowering teachers is key to meaningful reform. “No change is possible without strong, capable teachers,” he said. He added that the new licensing system would boost both the status and performance of the teaching profession.

He applauded the successful rollout of Sindh’s first teaching license exam. According to him, the move ensures teacher accountability and professional competence.

However, Shah expressed concern over the shortage of skilled educators. He revealed that only 16pc of applicants passed the test, showing the urgent need for system-wide change. “Our schools worked better 50 years ago. The decline has been long and steady,” he noted.

The CM said teacher recruitment now follows strict merit-based procedures to shape future generations. Drawing a comparison, he stated, “Politics may not need a license, but education must carry both responsibility and accountability.”

He ended by paying tribute to teachers. “A real teacher takes pride in their students’ success. I respect my teachers just as I respect my parents,” he said.
