Pakistan is set to launch its latest remote sensing satellite from China’s Xichang Satellite Launch Center (XSLC) on July 31, 2025, marking a key achievement in the country’s growing space program.

The announcement was made by the Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO), which confirmed that the new satellite will significantly boost the country’s Earth observation and data analysis capabilities.

It will help Pakistan in areas such as precision agriculture, urban planning, disaster management, and environmental monitoring.

SUPARCO stated that the satellite will provide vital data for predicting and managing floods, landslides, earthquakes, and tracking long-term changes like glacier melting and deforestation. This will help authorities take timely action to reduce the impact of natural disasters.

The satellite will also assist in national development projects, especially those linked to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), by monitoring transport routes, infrastructure growth, and identifying geological risks. It is designed to work in various weather conditions, making it a reliable tool for data collection.

This launch will add to Pakistan’s existing satellite network, which includes the PRSS-1 satellite, launched in 2018, and the EO-1 satellite, launched in January 2025.

Together, these satellites are part of a long-term vision outlined in the National Space Policy and SUPARCO’s Vision 2047, which aims to place Pakistan among the leading countries in space science and technology.

SUPARCO officials said the launch reflects Pakistan’s ambition to use advanced space tools for national progress.

The new satellite is expected to serve civil, scientific, and strategic purposes, helping government departments make data-driven decisions for development and safety.
