Pakistan offers Oman use of Gwadar, Karachi Ports

Pakistan has invited Oman to use Gwadar and Karachi ports for better trade access to emerging markets in Central Asia.

The offer was made during a high-level meeting between Pakistan’s Commerce Minister Jam Kamal and Oman’s Commerce Minister Qais Al Yousif in Muscat.

Both sides discussed ways to increase trade and investment and agreed to improve transport links.

The Pakistani delegation highlight the strategic importance of Gwadar and Karachi ports as key regional trade hubs, providing Oman with enhanced access to emerging markets.

The discussion centered on fostering sector-specific collaboration in textiles, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), agriculture, food security, and manufacturing.

Minister Jam Kamal said, “Oman can benefit from Pakistan’s expertise to achieve its economic goals under Vision 2040.”

Oman’s minister acknowledged Pakistan’s key role in regional trade, highlighting that, “historical ties and geographic proximity render Pakistan the most effective trade route to Central Asian states”.

Both countries agreed to strengthen economic ties and explore new opportunities for mutual growth.
