In a bid to improve transportation for women officers, Karachi Police Chief Javed Alam Odho on Tuesday distributed 25 automatic motorcycles to female officers.
The bikes, designed to be clutch-free and easy to operate, are tailored for women’s convenience and are equipped with a push-start button.
Odho explained that this initiative is aimed at resolving the transport challenges faced by female police officers.
“Today, we are handing over ownership and control of these motorcycles to our lady officers, ensuring they have reliable and accessible transportation to fulfill their duties and personal needs,” he said.
The Karachi Police Chief emphasized that this move would not only empower female officers but also send a message to the citizens.
“This is a significant step towards gender equality in all fields. Women will now independently commute to work, showcasing their equal participation in Karachi’s daily life,” said police chief.
“The project was made possible through the collaboration with Murad Sohni and Meezan Bank, with more initiatives in the pipeline to further enhance Karachi’s police force,” Odho stated.
Odho congratulated the officers and encouraged them to use the bikes as their personal property.
