Mayor Wahab strongly criticized Karachi business community

Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab strongly criticized the businessmen in Karachi, accusing them of using blackmail tactics against him.

Mayor Karachi reiterated his unwavering stance against the water mafia, stressing his commitment to combating their influence in Karachi.

“I have been and will remain against the water mafia,” Wahab declared.

Speaking at a media briefing, he vowed not to succumb to what he described as “blackmail” by traders.

Responding to allegations about his absenteeism, Wahab dismissed the allegation about his absence from his office. “It’s not a camp office that operates from London or Mansoura,” he clarified.

Highlighting his vision for Karachi, Wahab praised the entrepreneurial spirit of Sialkot’s traders, who built an airport and airline with their own resources.

In contrast, he accused Karachi’s traders of conspiring against the administration while failing to support city development efforts.

The mayor also revisited past governance issues, mentioning the Malir Expressway as a project stalled under previous administrations.

“We worked hard to get the country moving, and now the stock exchange is stable, and the rupee has strengthened,” he stated.

Addressing the concerns of Karachi, Wahab stressed his fight against illegal practices, including the misuse of public land.

He pointed out past instances where wedding halls were built on public spaces and vowed to restore such areas for public benefit.
