A shocking report emerged, revealing that the records of 2.7 million Pakistanis were stolen from the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA).
As per ARY News report, the Chairman of NADRA confirmed the significant data breach during a meeting – Chaired by Raja Khurram Nawaz – of the National Assembly (NA) Committee on Interior.
According to the chairman, various NADRA appointments were made without proper advertisement, and some employees had obtained degrees after being hired, adding that NADRA’s budget is Rs 57 billion, with 87 percent allocated to salaries.
While briefing the meeting, the chairman asserted that the NADRA currently operates around 240 mobile vans, with plans to acquire 90 more equipped with satellite connectivity.
Member of the National Assembly, Agha Rafiullah, expressed concerns over the data breach, pointing out that data of several key individuals was reportedly leaked, and that those responsible were still employed in NADRA.
He voiced frustration, highlighting that no disciplinary action has been taken against those involved, with some even promoted to higher positions.
