Sindh govt boosts security for Chinese nationals

Following the deadly blast outside Karachi airport on October 06 that claimed the lives of two Chinese engineers, the government of Sindh decided to boost the security protocols for Chinese nationals working across the province.

The Interior Minister of Sindh, Ziaul Hassan Lanjar, chaired a high-level meeting with key law enforcers and intelligence officials in which the meeting members reviewed the current security measures.

During the meeting, the interior minister stated that the security of Chinese citizens affiliated with the CPEC and non-CPEC projects must be coordinated and effective at every level.

He also urged local business sponsors to take responsibility for the safe arrival and protection of foreign workers within Sindh.

It is worth mentioning here that a suicide blast was occurred some days before the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Islamabad, an event attended by numerous foreign dignitaries, further raising security concerns for foreign nationals in Pakistan.

Lanjar highlighted that with the Sindh government’s support, robust and enhanced security frameworks must be implemented to safeguard foreign workers in the region.
