The Sindh government announced plans to fill more than 500 positions with the Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC).
The notification states that the Sindh Education Department plans to fill 560 positions for assistant education officers and officers of education under SPSC.
The notification stated that SPSC had been charged with selecting 550 students for the 17th grade.
Over 2,000 ghost teachers’ salaries had recently stopped being paid across the province by the Sindh education department.
To stop the salaries of 2,019 phantom teachers, the provincial department of education sent a letter to the provincial accountant general.
The AG Sindh has seized the payment of salaries to the "ghost teachers” in accordance with the education department’s letter.
Salaries of 144 ghost teachers hailing from Karachi, 132 from Hyderabad, 114 from Mirpurkhas, 464 from Qambar, 190 from Jacobabad, Dadu 102 and 182 from Benazirabad districts had been stopped.
