The Sindh government on Thursday took notice of tree cutting within the Steel Mill and in its surrounding areas.
Provincial Minister for Environment Muhammad Ismail Rahu directed the Sindh Environment Protection Agency and DC Malir to take action against those involved in the act. He also ordered for a case to be registered against the people responsible.
Karachi has no specific law protecting its trees. Experts have repeatedly called for a law against the cutting of trees to be passed for the city so that the trees here can enjoy blanket protection.
