PTI government releases Rs 8 billion for ongoing projects in Karachi

The Federal government released funds totalling to Rs eight billion for the development projects currently ongoing in Karachi, as reported by ARY Information.

According to the report, the funds will channel through the Sindh Infrastructure Development Company. This amount will mainly be directed towards completion of Nishtar Road project, Manghopir Road project, Signal free passage between Matric Board office and Sakhi Hassan.

Some funds from this, Rs two billion to be exact, will be used in the development of the Green Line Project which heads as far as Numaish Chowk. An amount of Rs 500 million has been allocated for the development of the Institute of Technical and Management Sciences in Hyderabad.

This fund is part of the earlier package the federal government had committed itself to provide for the projects ongoing in Karachi- an amount of Rs 162 billion which would be directed towards projects focusing on transportation and sewerage systems.

The Prime Minister had stated that the present condition of Karachi was due to the neglect and corruption of the previous governments. The PM had also claimed that the federal government would work to contribute as much as is feasible but it was the responsibility of the local government to sort out the issues of the city.

Several other projects are awaiting funding currently, including water preservation.
