Additional Inspector General of Police for Karachi Javed Alam Odho gave all the zonal Deputy Inspector Generals orders to ensure that those responsible for aerial firing on New Year’s Day face strict legal action.
According to the Karachi Police spokesman, the chief of the Karachi Police ordered the concerned officers to detain and file cases against such individuals under the provisions of murder and attempted murder.
He urged people to call the 15 Helpline right away to report any instances of aerial firing in their neighbourhood or nearby. If there is any video of aerial firing, it should be sent to the Karachi Police Media Cell at 03302699211 or the WhatsApp complaint number 03435142770.
Javed Alam Odho claimed that the abhorrent practise of aerial firing, which claims countless lives every year could only be stopped with the joint cooperation of public and police.
