“People’s bus service has not been closed rather it is not on roads due to technical issues. All buses will be on roads within next two hours”,said Sindh Transport Minister Owais Shah.
On the other hand Admin of People’s Bus Service has informed that contract has taken place with Sindh Government and bus service will be provided in stages.
In first stage four buses will be available for transport which are currently on roads and two more will be added by the evening.
Incharge bus service Rehan Ullah said, “Bus service administration was incurring loss of PKR .3-.4 million each month. Our fares were not increased when the fuel prices elevated. Sindh government also did not extend the contract and therefore bus service was stopped”.
Sindh government launched bus service last year in April with huge claims. It comprised of ten air-conditioned buses which facilitated commute from Quaidabad to Tower.
Sindh government provided only ten buses with seating capacity of 30 people per bus for such a populous city like Karachi. Sindh government announced provision of more buses at the launch of the bus service but buses could not be provided rather bus service was seized.
The facility of bus service by Sindh government was provided after almost ten years, last time the facility was given by Former Mayor Naimat Ullah Khan.
