Pakistan’s prosperity is depended on Karachi, says President


President Arif Alvi chaired a high level meeting on Karachi’s issues at Sindh Governer’s house on Saturday. He addressed the issues faced by Metropolitan.


He appreciated the federal government’s role in addressing Karachi’s issues, and said that country’s development and prosperity were directly linked with the development of Karachi and plight of its residents could no longer be ignored.


According to the details, Karachi’s transformation plan to resolve major infrastructure issues was also discussed in the meeting.


The meeting attended by Governor Sindh Imran Ismail, Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Asad Umar and MNA Aftab Siddiqi also expressed concern on the growing number of cases of COVID-19 due to new wave of pandemic.


The president stressed on the importance of water conservation in the city while regretting that none such initiatives were taken in the past to store water for the city.


City’s major problems of availability of clean water, sewerage, solid waste management and transport were also discussed in the meetings and president assured to resolve the issues for the citizens.


He also urged citizens to get themselves vaccinated as soon as possible to let the city normalize its all functions so the work could be done, during his concern over coronavirus.
