In a notable economic development, Pakistan’s cement exports experienced a remarkable increase of 40.46% during the first four months of the financial year 2023-24, as compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
According to data from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), cement exports from July to October 2023 reached US $93.087 million, a significant rise from the US $66.271 million recorded in the same period of 2022-23. In terms of quantity, cement exports also saw a notable surge, increasing by 81.69%, from 1,324,110 metric tons to 2,405,798 metric tons.
On a year-on-year basis, the month of October 2023 witnessed a 32.58% increase in cement exports compared to October 2022. Cement exports for October 2023 were recorded at US $26.405 million, up from US $19.916 million in October 2022.
While the overall trend indicates substantial growth, on a month-on-month basis, cement exports experienced a nominal decrease of 2.35% in October 2023 when compared to September 2023, which had recorded exports of US $27.041 million. This data highlights the dynamic nature of the cement export market in Pakistan.
