There is no possibility of a complete lockdown in Pakistan, Head of the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) Asad Umar said on Friday.
Speaking to the media in Lahore, Umar said that while the surge in Covid-19 cases is alarming, any possibility of the imposition of a complete lockdown has been ruled out.
The NCOC head said that the smart lockdown policy introduced by Prime Minister Imran Khan has remained successful in the country and has even gained praise across the globe. He added that the smart lockdown policy will be continued in the Covid-19 hotspots of the country.
Earlier today, the Sindh health department pointed out that Covid-19 cases were reemerging and raised reservations on the reopening of schools from August 23.
As a result of his observation, Sindh Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah has further deferred the reopening of schools by one week and schools are to open on August 30 now.
