The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has officially approved an increase of Rs 1.71 per unit in electricity prices, citing fuel price adjustments. This adjustment will be reflected in the electricity bills for the month of October.
NEPRA issued a notification outlining the details of the increase, specifying that it is related to the fuel price adjustments for the month of August. Consumers are advised to anticipate the higher rates in their upcoming bills.
It’s important to note that the increased prices will not apply to Lifeline customers and those served by K Electric.
Sources indicate that the August fuel price adjustment will impose an additional burden of Rs 31 billion on consumers, highlighting the ongoing challenges in the energy sector that contribute to fluctuations in electricity prices.
