More than two-thirds of residential areas and 100 per cent of industrial areas of Karachi are exempted from load shedding, the power ministry told the National Assembly in a written reply on Monday.
In a written report regarding load-shedding in Karachi during the question and answer session of the National Assembly, the ministry of power said that 78 per cent of the city’s residential areas are exempted from outages. It further said that the industrial sector enjoys 100 per cent exemption from power outages.
The ministry further said the city is divided into three zones for power outages with Gadap, Malir, and Orangi Town areas witnessing six to seven hours of power outages. So do Baldia, Lyari, New Karachi, and Surjani.
