Karachi is going to witness the monsoon rain spells from mid-July, informed the Pakistan Metrological Department (PMD) on Sunday.
Talking about today’s air, the met office forecasted that the city would observe partial cloudy weather on its sky while the temperature of the city is 31 degree centigrade with the winds blowing at a speed of 20 Kilometers per hour.
Meanwhile in a letter to Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, Governor Sindh Imran Ismail stressed on city’s last year’s urban flooding and has asked to all the representatives to work together in order to avoid any unfortunate situation this time.
Considering how the heavy rainfall of last year destroyed the city from drainage system to the issue of electricity. It turned the city into a clutter state, affecting citizens’ lives, homes and their businesses. He said, “Saving the lives of the citizens is among the top priority of the government.”
He shared the concerns with the CM Murad Ali Shah in a letter written on June 16. And has asked to work collectively in a bid to prevent any unwanted circumstances for this year.
Anti-encroachment drive alongside Gujjar and Orangi nullah will help the drainage to function better and lessen the possibility of urban flooding, he believed.
Moreover, the public service institutions (K-Electric, HESCO, SEPCO) have also been warned and have been directed to take measurements and stay alerted to deal with rain related issues, he said.
