The Karachi Water and Sewerage Board is intensifying efforts to expand its revenue and tax database, according to a letter sent by DMD RRG Water Corporation, Syed Imran Zaidi, to the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) on the directives of CEO Water Corporation Engineer Syed Sallahuddin Ahmed.
The Water Corporation has formally requested detailed information on buildings, flats, and plazas in Karachi from the Sindh Building Control Authority. The letter specifies that the SBCA should provide comprehensive details of registered and approved buildings, flats, and plazas in Karachi, along with the names and locations of all registered societies. Additionally, the status of these structures, including whether they are under construction or completed, should be included. The letter also seeks information on the relevant authorities overseeing these constructions, along with their contact details.
Water Corporation officials emphasized the urgency of receiving this information promptly to enhance the corporation’s revenue customer base and database.
Simultaneously, the Water Corporation has announced its decision to take action against those who have not paid their dues. DMD RRG Syed Imran Zaidi mentioned that an operation is scheduled to be conducted against eighteen private cooperative housing societies that have failed to clear their dues from October 14. Despite being given a week’s grace period to settle their dues, these societies have not complied. In the initial phase, water connections to these societies will be disconnected, followed by the disconnection of sewage connections in the second phase.
