Mobile Phones
In more than 82,000 incidents in the city in the year 2021, citizens lost more than 3.16 billion mobile phones. 25% more than the last year.
If the average price of a mobile phone is set at Rs 20,000, then citizens have been deprived of Rs48.26 crore.
Cars
Last year 1667 vehicles were snatched or stolen in Karachi while this year this number has increased to 2060 and thus these incidents have also increased by more than 25%.
Motorcycle
Last year, about 35,000 motorcycles were stolen or snatched, while this year, about 50,000 motorcycles have been stolen from citizens and this crime has increased the most.
According to a conservative estimate, if the value of a snatched motorcycle is Rs 50,000 then the citizens have been deprived of about Rs 1.4 billion.
Murder incidents
Last year, 507 people were killed in the city, while in 2021, 541 people have been killed and this crime has also increased by 10%.
Kidnapping for ransom
There have been 24 kidnappings for ransom last year and 55 this year, and the crime has almost doubled.
Robberies and other incidents
In 2021, more than 480 houses have been robbed in other areas of the city and as a conservative estimate, if the amount looted from each house is considered to be 1 million, citizens have been deprived of Rs 480 million
On the other hand, incidents of terrorism decreased by 70% and the incidence of extortion decreased by about 5%.
