Karachi Zoo’s singular golden tabby tiger has passed away

Karachi Zoo’s Golden Tabby Tiger passed away this morning due to cardiac arrest. Ali Hassan Sajid Spokesperson of Baldia Uzma Karach said that the Golden Tabby Tiger was 21 years old. 

The golden tabby tiger has a lifespan of 20 to 25 years. This tiger was transferred from the safari park to the zoo in 2013 and belonged to the Bengal breed

Administrator Karachi Dr. Syed Saifur Rahman took notice of the death of the tiger and called for an immediate report on the matter. He further said that the health care of zoo animals cannot be compromised.

The golden tabby tiger was kept in isolation by the staff for three days afte showing symptoms of illness in the past 20 days. A post-mortem is being conducted to find out the reasons behind the tiger’s death.

This male tabby tiger was imported from Africa along with a female in 2012 and was kept at Safari par. However, after the female tiger passed away a year and a half later, the male tiger was shifted to Karachi Zoo.
