Karachi to experience light rain and drizzle

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted light rain and drizzle in Karachi over the next 24 hours, bringing some relief to the city that has been experiencing high humidity levels. The temperature in Karachi is expected to range between 27.5°C and 32°C, while the humidity currently stands at 89%, with winds blowing in from the west at a moderate speed of 10 km/h.

The PMD has also predicted that another spell of monsoon rains is likely to hit the city starting from August 16. This expected rainfall comes after several weeks of light rain and drizzles, which have turned the weather pleasant in the city after a period of intense heat.

Weather Forecast Across Sindh

Apart from Karachi, other districts in Sindh are also expected to experience varying weather patterns over the coming days. The coastal districts of Thatta, Sujawal, and Badin are likely to receive light rain, with temperatures hovering between 32°C and 34°C. Humidity levels in these areas are expected to be slightly lower, ranging between 60% and 70%.

  • Thatta: The district will see light rain throughout the day, accompanied by partly cloudy conditions. This pattern is expected to persist, providing some relief from the warm and humid weather.
  • Sujawal and Badin: Both regions are forecasted to experience similar weather conditions, with light rain likely in the afternoon and evening, contributing to a slight drop in temperatures.

Partly Cloudy Conditions in Central Sindh

In the central regions of Sindh, including Hyderabad, Tando Allahyar, Tando Muhammad Khan, and Jamshoro, the PMD predicts partly cloudy skies with no significant rainfall expected. Temperatures in these districts are forecasted to be slightly higher than in the coastal areas, ranging from 34°C to 37°C. Humidity levels will remain between 50% and 70%, adding to the overall discomfort in the warm and sticky conditions.

Hotter Conditions in Northern Sindh

Moving towards the northern parts of Sindh, districts like Dadu and Mirpurkhas are expected to experience hotter conditions. The temperature in Dadu could soar to 43°C, making it one of the hottest areas in the province. Despite the heat, there is a slight chance of light rain in the evening, which may provide temporary relief from the scorching temperatures.

Mixed Weather Patterns Across Sindh

The weather across Sindh remains varied, with coastal areas enjoying light rain and cooler temperatures, while central and northern districts experience hotter and more humid conditions. The PMD’s forecast indicates that while Karachi and other coastal districts might enjoy some light rain, the central and northern parts of Sindh will continue to face warmer weather, with little to no rainfall expected.

Residents of Karachi and other affected areas are advised to stay updated on weather conditions, especially with the approaching monsoon spell. The PMD has urged citizens to take necessary precautions during the expected rain, particularly in areas prone to waterlogging and flooding.

As the city braces for another round of monsoon rains, the varied weather patterns across Sindh highlight the diverse climatic conditions in the province, each bringing its own set of challenges and relief to the people living there.
