Karachi police chief says street crimes biggest challenge

Karachi Police Chief Javed Alam Odho has termed street crimes as the biggest challenge in the city.

 

In an interview, Odho said that the biggest challenge in Karachi is street crimes, the second biggest problem is stealing and snatching motorcycles of citizens, the job of a man. When a motorcycle goes away, its accumulated capital goes away.

Javed Odho said that drugs especially ICE is destroying the young generation and this is also a serious problem.

The Karachi Police Chief said that the social and cultural environment of Karachi has changed and many newcomers have come to the city.

Javed Odho said that people from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa tribal areas, inner Balochistan and inner Sindh and South Punjab have come to Karachi, now it is a new challenge. The arrival of illegal weapons and the acceptance of violence and living in society.

The Karachi Police Chief further said that there are about 60,000 police personnel in different units of Karachi, police intelligence system is to be improved, there are many gangs in the city and the number of habitual criminals is very high. What’s more, we have shortcomings, but they are guaranteed.

Javed Odho said that drug dealers, illegal arms dealers, land mafia and water mafia are the major problems of the city and peace cannot be established in the city unless these mafias are stopped.

He further said that the problem of drugs can not be solved only by the police, the most important role in this is the family then educational institutions and society have their own responsibilities, everyone must work together, drugs to prevent it. Rehabilitation centers are also important.
