Ghulam Nabi Memon, the Inspector-General (IG) of Police Sindh, has called an urgent conference due to the increase in street crimes in Karachi.
Details indicate that the Additional Inspector-General (AIG) office in the city has been called by the IG Sindh due to an increase in street crimes. It is required that all police officers show up to the meeting.
The topic of installing cameras in police uniforms will also be discussed, along with the increasing number of murders associated with robbery resistance.
The DIG CIA and the Zonal Deputy Inspector-Generals (DIGs) will brief Ghulam Nabi Memon on the state of the city. Additionally, information was requested about the capture of criminals and drug dealers.
In the meanwhile, all of the specialised units’ leaders will submit performance reports to IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon.
It is important to note that, according to a Citizens-Police Liaison Committee study, street crime in Karachi has sharply increased, with over 263 occurrences reported daily in the city (CPLC).
The law enforcement agencies (LEAs) have failed to stop criminal activity in the city, as seen by the over 263 occurrences that were recorded on a daily basis in August, according to the CPLC report.
Three station house officers (SHOs) of the Sindh police in Karachi were earlier suspended on September 5 for allegedly failing to reduce street crime.
