Jamaat Islami (JI) Ameer Sirajul Haq announced a nationwide protest for Tuesday, January 17, over what he claimed was engineering in local bodies polls after delays in announcing the results of Karachi’s local government elections.
In addition, the JI leader called an urgent meeting at the party’s Mansoora headquarters in Lahore to plan a course of action in the wake of alleged election fraud in Karachi.
After ‘winning’ LG polls, he claimed, JI has become Karachi’s largest political party.
After JI achieved success in union councils, "it is clear indications that the people would trust JI,” he said.
He also asserted that it had been demonstrated that other parties had also been subject to election rigging, in addition to the JI.
