Inflation at 46.10% as prices continue to rise

According to figures from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), the country’s annual inflation rate has now hit a record high of 46.10% following a weekly increase of 1.31%.

The country’s weekly inflation rate for the previous week was 1.31%, per PBS statistics. According to PBS statistics, the cost of 31 necessities went up in price last week while the cost of three other necessities went down.

According to the report, the country’s terrible floods caused a sharp surge in onion prices, which rose by Rs51.52 over the previous week. Tomato prices increased by Rs20.87, it was stated.

According to the PBS Weekly Inflation Report, the price of moong pulse increased by Rs17.21, while the price of chickpea pulse increased  by Rs6.76. Potatoes increased by Rs4.55, eggs by Rs8.39 per dozen while the price of chicken went up by Rs8.91, it added.

In the previous week, the cost of a 20 kilogramme bag of four jumped by Rs18.33 and the cost of an LPG cylinder increased by Rs118.63. In the previous week, the cost of garlic, milk, yoghurt, and sugar also increased.

However, the cost of a 2.5 kg box of frying oil and a 0.1 kilogramme box of Masoor pulse both decreased. While the cost of 17 necessities remained volatile.
