ICC announces three venues in USA for T20 World Cup 2024 matches

The upcoming T20 World Cup in 2024, jointly hosted by the USA and West Indies, will feature matches held at three venues in the United States, as announced by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

The ICC revealed that the T20 World Cup matches for next year will take place in New York, Florida, and Texas.

Jeff Allardyce, the Chief Executive of the ICC, expressed his excitement about this development, stating, "We are thrilled to announce that the World Cup will be hosted in the USA, featuring three venues and welcoming 20 participating teams.”

He emphasized the strategic significance of the American market and the opportunities it presents for cricket’s global growth.

The rights to host this event in June 2024 were awarded to the Caribbean and the United States in November 2021, according to an official ICC statement.

Foreign media reports indicate that preparations are already underway in the United States for this prestigious cricket event. A temporary stadium with a capacity of 34,000 spectators will be constructed in Eisenhower Park, Nassau County, New York.

Additionally, the existing cricket grounds in Texas and Broward County, Florida, will undergo capacity enhancements to accommodate the anticipated cricket enthusiasts.

The current T20 cricket champion is England, who secured victory over Pakistan in the final match held in Melbourne last year.

It is noteworthy that cricket is steadily gaining ground in the United States, as evidenced by the commencement of the "Major League Cricket” T20 league earlier this year in July. The league’s final took place at the Grand Rary Stadium in Texas, marking significant progress for the sport in the country.
