Empress Market goes through restoration

Empress Market in Saddar is being renovated by the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) to its former glory.

The Empress Market tower was painted using a snorkel, claims KMC Administrator Dr. Syed Saifur Rehman. The historic building, which was dedicated in 1889, underwent significant renovations and is now surrounded by a magnificent park.

Dr. Rehman told the media that the KMC was rehabbing the city’s historic structures after inspecting the restoration work. He claimed that Empress Market held a prominent place among the city’s historic buildings and was a well-known landmark in Karachi.

He stated that the building had four entrances, 80 windows, and iron bars all over.

He also stated that the market’s clock tower will be restored. The KMC administrator noted that the market was situated in the center of Karachi and huge numbers of people walk through it every day.

He stated that Empress Market was being restored to offer citizens convenience and beautify the city. He also stated that more historical structures would be restored.
