Elon Musk teases new video, audio call feature for X (formerly Twitter)

Elon Musk, the owner of X (formerly known as Twitter), has recently hinted at the upcoming launch of a new feature that will enable users to make video and audio calls directly through the social media application. In a tweet, Musk provided some insights into the attributes of the feature, highlighting its compatibility with iOS, Android, Mac, and PC. He also emphasized that no phone number will be required to use this feature.

Although an official launch date for this new feature has not been announced yet, the anticipation is building. Earlier in July, the company’s designer shared screenshots of the video and audio calling feature in action, giving users a glimpse of what to expect.

In the shared screenshots, the options for audio and video calls are visibly integrated into the top left corner of the Direct Message (DM) screen, suggesting that users will be able to seamlessly switch from texting to voice or video communication.

While the exact details are still under wraps, it remains uncertain whether this new feature will be exclusively available to Blue subscribers, a premium subscription service provided by X. The introduction of such a feature aligns with the evolving trends in social media and communication, as platforms continue to incorporate more interactive and dynamic features to enhance user engagement.

As the anticipation grows and more information emerges, users and tech enthusiasts alike are eagerly waiting for the official release of this new communication feature on X.
