East Zone DIG briefs CM on law and order 

In a recent briefing to the Chief Minister, DIG Asif Mehsar of the East Zone shed light on the prevailing law and order situation in the region. The East Zone encompasses 44 police stations, 19 subdivisions, and three districts, namely East, Korangi, and Malir.

During the briefing, DIG Asif Mehsar outlined several pressing issues plaguing the East Zone, including the prevalence of land grabbing mafias, smuggling activities, oil theft, and water pilferage. Notably, electricity theft and road blockages emerged as significant challenges faced by law enforcement in the zone.

Providing a snapshot of street crime statistics, the DIG reported 785 cases registered from September 8, 2023, to December 20, 2023. Of these, 261 cases have been successfully resolved, while 524 are actively under investigation.

The law enforcement efforts in the East Zone yielded substantial results, with the recovery of 601 mobile phones, 365 motorcycles, and 29 four-wheelers. A total of 1974 criminals were apprehended during this period, along with the arrest of 358 individuals involved in advertising-related offenses.

The crackdown extended to unauthorized factories, with 42 fake factories being exposed and 88 individuals arrested in connection with these activities. Additionally, DIG Asif Mehsar emphasized that key administrative offices, including seven police stations, the DA’s office, 10 Magistrate Courts, and 17 Revenue, Education, and other offices, are strategically located within the East Zone.

The briefing aimed to provide a comprehensive overview of the East Zone’s security challenges and the proactive measures undertaken by law enforcement to address them.
