E-Gates to be installed at Karachi, Lahore airports

In a bid to streamline immigration processes and enhance passenger experience, plans are in motion to introduce "e-gates” at major airports in Pakistan, including Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport, Lahore’s Allama Iqbal Airport, and Islamabad International Airport. This move aims to provide a faster and more efficient immigration facility for travelers, similar to the systems implemented in developed countries.

Airport sources have revealed that the installation of e-gates has already commenced, with discussions conducted with a company from the United Arab Emirates on behalf of the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority. The introduction of e-gates is expected to reduce the inconvenience of long immigration queues, allowing passengers to perform their immigration procedures swiftly.

To utilize the e-gate facility, passengers will be required to possess an e-passport. This initiative aligns with global trends, particularly those in developed countries, where automated processes contribute to a smoother travel experience for individuals.
