Minister for Energy, Muhammad Ali, stated on Monday that the caretaker federal government has no plans to decrease the rates of solar net metering, a process that allows individuals with solar panels to sell excess electricity to the National Grid, reducing their electricity bills.
During a media briefing at the Governor House, Minister Ali highlighted that a nationwide crackdown on electricity theft had been initiated, emphasizing the government’s efforts to lower electricity rates.
He explained that changes in electricity rates for July bills were influenced by fluctuations in the dollar rate, resulting in higher electricity bills than anticipated for August.
Minister Ali announced his intention to unveil a special electricity tariff for traders before October 31. Additionally, plans are underway to ensure a consistent supply of gas to industries during the winter months, with proposals from the business community to be presented to the Prime Minister.
Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori emphasized the business community’s desire for continued economic stability and growth during the briefing.
