Bangladesh crushed India in the Asia Cup dead rubber

Skipper Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman powered Bangladesh to a six-run thumping victory against India in a dead rubber match of the Asia.

After being put into bat first, Bangladesh struggled as Mohammed Shami, who was given the opportunity to play today, bowled Litton Das for a duck.

Things started to be shaky afterwards for Bangladesh, but it was the brilliance of veteran all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, who played a brilliant innings to put a fighting total on board for his team. In his 85-ball 80, Shakib creamed six fours and three towering sixes.

Shakib found an able ally in Hridoy, who played elegantly to rebound Bangladesh’s innings. Together, Shakib and Hridoy racked up 101 runs to put the Indian bowlers to the test. Shakib was castled by Thakur.

Hridoy’s smart knock was laced with five boundaries and two gigantic sixes before he was undone by Mohammed Shami.

Mahedi Hasan played an unbeaten cameo of 23-ball 29 and was supported by Tanzim Hasan Sakib, who also remained undefeated and whacked one boundary and one six.

Chasing a target of 266, India were bundled out for 259 with one ball remaining. After losing skipper Rohit Sharma for duck. Shubman Gill showed his class by securing another century in his ODI career.

In his 133-ball 121, Gill smashed eight boundaries and five sixes before he was befuddled by Mahedi Hasan. Axar Patel (42) and Suryakumar Yadav (26) showed some significant resistance with the bat.

For Bangladesh, Mustafizur Rahman (3-50) showed his experience and picked up three crucial wickets. Tanzim Hasan Sakib (2-32) was outstanding with the ball and grabbed two wickets. Mehidy Hasan Miraz (1-29) and Shakib Al Hasan (1-43) took a scalp each.
