On Thursday, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) administration invited traders who had protested the lack of dollars to a meeting.
Outside the SBP, Karachi traders protested against the federal government’s and the central bank’s policies under the leadership of President Wholesale Grocers Sharjeel Goplani.
Goplani claimed that because there were no dollars available, traders who failed to get their containers cleared from the port were hit with hefty fines.
Due to the lack of dollars, traders’ suffering has increased because they are unable to remove their containers that are stranded at the Karachi port, according to Sharjeel Goplani.
The Karachi traders have been invited by the SBP administration to discuss the matter.
