Health experts have revealed that the rate of breast cancer among Asian populations is highest in Karachi.
While addressing the breast cancer awareness seminar at Dow University of Health Sciences, experts said that every minute in the world, a woman loses her life due to breast cancer.
It was also revealed that every eighth woman in Pakistan is suffering from this deadly disease, and the rate of breast cancer in any Asian population is the highest in Karachi, only by creating awareness, this rate can be reduced.
Experts said that breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the world, while breast cancer is the third leading cause of death in our region.
He said that October is actually a month of war against breast cancer, but the weapon of this war is knowledge, breast cancer is increasing rapidly, by 2040 this rate will increase by three times.
The chief guest of this seminar was Prof. Nusrat Shah, Pro-Vice Chancellor of Dow University, besides them, Prof. Saba Sohail, Principal of Dow Medical College, former Medical Superintendent of Civil Hospital Karachi, Dr. Noor Muhammad Soomro, Dr. Farhat Jalil, Dr. Umima Saleem, Dr. Saima and Others spoke.
Dr. Asghar Ali Asghar of Kiran Hospital said that in India, 25 out of 100,000 people are diagnosed with breast cancer. Here, 34 out of 100,000 people are diagnosed with breast cancer. .
He said that there are certain measures that can reduce the rate of breast cancer, women can reduce the risk of breast cancer by four percent by breastfeeding their children for 12 months, exercise which includes walking six thousand steps. Avoidance of processed meat, consumption of vegetables and fruits, regular intake of calcium and vitamin D can protect against breast cancer.
