Indus flood flow enters province, Sindh on high alert

The Indus river has been experiencing excessive flood levels at Taunsa Barrage on Thursday.

According to an irrigation official, Sindh has seen a large flood flow, and a high warning has been issued due to the flooding scenario.

Taunsa Barrage has a river inflow measurement of 5,03,000 cusecs, and a river discharge measurement of 5,03,000 cusecs. Today, the in-charge Barrage Control Room stated.

According to the official, the Indus River was experiencing medium flooding in Chashma and moderate flooding in Char Maqam.

 flood at Tarbela and Kalabagh.Irrigation officials stated in a previous report on the current flood condition that the Indus River was in medium flood at the Taunsa and Guddu barrages, low to medium flood at the Chashma and Sukkur barrages, and in low flood at Tarbela and Kalabagh.

The water level in the Indus River has risen at several points after the nation experienced monsoon rainfall that was above average.

The PMD predicted above-average rainfall in Kashmir, coastal Balochistan, northeastern Punjab, and southern Sindh during the monsoon season in its monthly meteorological outlook.

The Met Office has also issued a warning that flash floods and urban flooding can occur as a result of heavy rainfall in plain regions, including the major cities of Punjab, Sindh, and KP, as well as in hilly portions of Punjab, AJK, and KP.

Additionally, during the monsoon, it had anticipated river floods.
