The Sindh government has started issuing vehicle number plates with modern security features in the province to prevent fake number plates of vehicles in the province and to check vehicle ownership digitally.
The Sindh government has started issuing number plates of vehicles equipped with modern security features and new designs. People are flocking to get these number plates.
In this regard, Zia Shahid, Deputy Director, Sindh Excise Department said that the new number plates have been created in collaboration with National Radio and Telecommunication (NRTC).
He said that with the new number plates it will be much easier to track and retrieve vehicle data while these number plates will be camera readable.
Zia Shahid said that these new number plates will have 5 security features including RIFD ie Tracking Chip, Laser Serial Number, Sindh Government Monogram, Laser Integrated Mark and graphics on each number plate.
"These new number plates will also have a modern bar code, which can be scanned to see if the plate is genuine or not,” he said. In addition, this bar code will contain all the information including the ownership of the vehicle.
According to the Excise and Taxation Department, these new number plates, adorned with the design of Sindh’s cultural heritage, are made of sun and water resistant and non-bending aluminum sheet, which can be read even in the dark of night.
It may be recalled that this number plate has been introduced in Punjab and Balochistan and its price there is Rs. 1400, whereas in Sindh its price has been fixed at Rs. 1800.
