Exporters using the Bin Qasim route to access wet and dry ports will now get a 50 per cent discount in a port duty even though this means that the port’s income may be dented by Rs240 million yearly.
The wet and dry port charges have been slashed by 50 pc for exporters, ARY News quoted port officials as saying. The reduction in port duty has come about after exporters persistently demanded a drop after a huge increase in production costs due to high fuel and dollar rates.
The past year, Bin Qasim port posted Rs18 billion in profits after tax deductions.
