The highly anticipated three-match ODI series between Pakistan and Australia is set to begin tomorrow in Melbourne, with Pakistan’s playing XI announced for the first ODI.
Mohammad Rizwan will lead the Green Shirts for the first time as captain, while Salman Ali Agha steps in as vice-captain. The lineup includes players such as Abdullah Shafiq, Saeem Ayub, Babar Azam, Kamran Ghulam, Mohammad Irfan Khan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf, and Mohammad Hasnain.
In a statement, Mohammad Rizwan expressed optimism about the team’s performance, highlighting the dedication and skills of key players like Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Naseem Shah in the squad.
Vice-captain Salman Ali Agha mentioned the team’s enthusiasm and positive atmosphere as they prepared through intensive practice sessions focused on batting, bowling, and fielding.
Despite Pakistan’s historically challenging record in Australia, with just one ODI series win and a significant disadvantage in head-to-head matches – 70 losses to Australia in 104 games – the team is eager to prove themselves.
