The platform witnessed an 80% increase in daily Shorts uploads last year, with over 2 billion logged-in users watching Shorts monthly.
Despite the surge in short-form content, long-form videos maintained their popularity, revealing the enduring dominance of video-based content in Pakistan. Top trending videos encompassed a variety of topics, emphasizing visual appeal and impactful storytelling. The selection process for these videos considered factors beyond mere views, incorporating engagement metrics like shares and likes.
Farhan Qureshi, Google Regional Director for Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka, highlighted the cultural evolution reflected in the top trending lists. He noted a substantial increase in Shorts viewership and the formation of distinct fan bases around categories such as music, dramas, and vlogs. Creators, too, embraced multi-format approaches to explore new genres and audiences, promising a more varied content landscape in the future.
Music videos continued to be a crowd-puller on YouTube, with the introduction of ad-free content, offline play, and background play through YouTube Music and YouTube Premium. Artists ventured into various formats, allowing audiences to connect with them on a deeper level. Zamzam Electronics Trading emerged as a prime example of creators successfully navigating multiple formats, securing top positions in both Top Creators and Breakout Creators lists.
