Karachi Authorities Seal Shops Selling Milk at Exorbitant Prices in Defense and Clifton”

In a crackdown against the arbitrary increase in milk prices, Commissioner Karachi, Salim Rajput, took decisive action by personally inspecting shops in the Defense and Clifton areas. Two shops were sealed for selling milk at a higher price than the fixed rate.

Commissioner Salim Rajput, accompanied by Assistant Commissioner Civil Lines and the police, purchased milk at Rs 230 per kilogram and subsequently sealed both shops. This move is part of the ongoing efforts to regulate and control the prices of essential commodities.

In response to the situation, Commissioner Karachi has issued directives to all Deputy Commissioners and Assistant Commissioners to take strict actions against those found selling milk at prices exceeding the government-fixed rate. Additionally, the public has been urged to report any instances of milk being sold at prices higher than Rs. 200.

While the authorities’ actions have been seen as a step towards consumer protection, some citizens in Karachi view it as a mere formality. They argue that the administration focused on only two shops while numerous others across the city continue to sell milk at Rs. 230 per liter. The public expresses the need for a more comprehensive approach to address the widespread issue of inflated milk prices in Karachi.
