The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) announced that the first digital census has successfully registered 40 million households across the country. The PBS reported that census work was 95% completed in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, and 92% completed in Sindh and 6% in Balochistan. The bureau further explained that the census data of almost 10 million people is being synchronized daily without any technical difficulties, adding that the entire process is being conducted with transparency.
To ensure the credibility and universal coverage of the census, the PBS has provided the design and strategic approach, equipped the provincial and district governments with the tools and technology for real-time progress monitoring, and provided daily oversight and feedback to further improve the data collection exercise. It is the responsibility of the provincial and district governments to conduct the census field operation and ensure 100% quality, and credible and universal coverage, leaving no one behind.
The real-time data progress monitoring dashboards, which were developed in partnership with NADRA and provided by PBS, help provincial governments to identify any anomalies on a daily basis. The PBS staffers analyze the received data every day at the headquarters and communicate with the provinces to ensure universal coverage of citizens. The bureau is committed to ensuring the accuracy and completeness of the census data and has implemented measures to achieve this goal.
