Pakistan defeat Australia, advance to Hong Kong Sixes final

In a nail-biting first semi-final of the Hong Kong Super Sixes tournament, Pakistan defeated Australia by 4 wickets to secure a spot in the final.

Chasing a target of 108 runs, Pakistan secured victory with just one ball to spare, finishing at 109/2 in 5.5 overs.

Openers Mohammad Akhlaq and Asif Ali set the tone with quick-fire innings, both scoring 32 runs each, with Aamer Yamin continuing the momentum with an explosive 24 off 8 balls, while captain Faheem Ashraf scored a quick 19runs off 9 balls, steering Pakistan home.

Faheem Ashraf was adjudged the best player of the match for his all-round performance.

With this win, Pakistan maintains an unbeaten streak in the tournament, having previously overcome teams like the UAE, India, and defending champions South Africa.

In today’s semi-final, they added another notable victory by defeating Australia.

Sri Lanka in the second semi-final defeated Bangladesh and advanced to the final to face Pakistan on November 03, Sunday [today].

After a seven-year hiatus, the Hong Kong Super Sixes returns with fierce competition.

England and South Africa each hold five titles, while Pakistan, with four wins, has a chance to tie top spot with a victory in today’s final.

Other past champions include India, Australia, West Indies, and Sri Lanka, each with a single title.

All eyes are on the Green Shirts as they aim to lift the trophy and join the ranks of the most successful teams in the tournament’s history.
